Natural Joint Pain Relief
Natural joint pain relief can provide you with lasting pain relief, without the side effects of prescription pain medication. Joint pain has many diverse causes; you may or may not already know what is causing your joint pain. We can help relieve your pain, once we know what is causing it.
However, sometimes people have joint pain and despite having a thorough workup, no one quite knows what is causing their pain. This is where we do our best work, figuring out the cause of, and using natural joint pain relief to get you felling better.
Here are some things to consider as a cause of joint pain:
Rheumatoid arthritis
An autoimmune condition where part of your immune system attacks the lining inside of your joints. The result is pain, swelling and eventually joint deformity. Standard medical treatment includes steroids and other drugs to manage the pain and inflammation.
When people come to us with rheumatoid arthritis the first thing we think of are food sensitivities. Eating certain foods can aggravate your immune system, setting of autoimmune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis. By identifying food sensitivities, and removing the offending food from a person’s diet, we’ve seen some pretty incredible changes in their symptoms, and in their blood work (which is used to measure severity of rheumatoid arthritis).
Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis is caused by wearing down of the cartilage inside our joints. Cartilage is a ‘shock absorber’ and once it wears down we begin to experience pain and stiffness. A dirty secret in medicine is that pain relieving drugs like ibuprofen actually slow the body’s production of cartilage. It doesn’t make sense to take a drug that actually keeps the joints from healing. This is why we use glucosamine along with other natural joint pain relievers. Glucosamine is the only substance we know of that can help replace cartilage in the body.
Food Sensitivities
As I mentioned before, food sensitivities can cause a number of symptoms in the body. They can cause joint pain in the absence of any other disease process (rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis). They might even be the direct cause of rheumatoid arthritis as well. This is why food sensitivities are one of the first things we consider when someone has rheumatoid arthritis, or joint pain. You can read more about food sensitivities here.
Menopause and Andropause
While joint pain isn’t considered an ‘official’ symptom of menopause or andropause (male hormone decline), we see a lot of women who come in with joint pain that starts during peri- or menopause, and men in their late 40’s or early 50’s (this is when testosterone really begins to decline). Once their hormones are balanced again, their joint pain goes away.
Overuse
Let’s face it; everyone tends to overdo it every so often (some of us more than others…!) Achy joints are common after too much activity. Pain and discomfort are normal ‘side effects’ from too much activity. As we mentioned before, we don’t recommend you take a lot of ibuprofen or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) because they keep the joints from repairing themselves. Rather, check out some of our many natural joint pain relievers – they work really well for active people.
